Shanna Swan, an epidemiologist at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York, says human race is in trouble. Scientists blame it on a class of chemical named endocrine disruptors, found in plastics, cosmetics, pesticides and numerous products in daily use.
Problem at heart is that sperm in 90% of young men are odd – sometimes with two heads and some with two tales. Besides today’s sperms swim very slowly and sometimes goof up in circles instead of hitting the target that is egg.
Sperm count has also dropped sharply in last 50 years, challenging our ability to reproduce.
Sperm is hatched in cells called sertoli cells. The more sertoli cells a man has the larger his testicles are and more sperm it can produce. It takes 70 days for these cells to mature and become sperm, ready to swim and hit the egg.
But these dangerous chemicals can cause permanent damage in boys, before their sexual organs are fully grown.
