A bioethicist at Duke University, Sara Katsania, is expert at DNA data-mining to combat crime. Duke research is supported by America FBI and other studies. Studies conclude that women involved in street prostitution are 90 to 100 times more likely to be murdered than non-prostitute females.
Despite this large risk factors, little or no information exists on homicide of prostitutes. The cause of this data mining is to identify how this sub group differs from other sub groups of females murders. This is as they say the oldest profession of human civilization and so little is known about homicide in this profession. The other side of civilization perhaps is unwilling to show care about victims of death in this profession.
Street prostitution is a high risk business for transient life stylers, often involving drug abuse and disturbed home life. The suspect in this study is predominantly long haul truck drivers. Crime becomes more complicated because it involves significant distances and multiple jurisdictions. Scarcity of witness and no forensic proof further makes policing more difficult, to resolve the homicides.
