I am lousy in either billiard or in throwing darts. But when I have got one or two shots of whiskey then I perform totally different. I beat others in billiards like a professional player. My darts are hitting bullseye.
So what makes whiskey turn me into a champ?
This is not a secret.
David Mottram wrote a book in 2005, “Drugs in Sport”. He explains that “alcohol relaxes the muscles needed to foster a smooth pull and push to win a target. Alcohol loosens the muscles, creating a relaxed grip that can hold sturdier for longer time”.
Thomas Reilly, a physiology researcher found in 1993 that “hand-eye coordination deteriorated immediately after first drink, but improves shortly after some moments.
Sean Reed, a UCLA researcher says, “Why am I at my best after two drink? Alcohol relaxes me. Alcohol decreases level of the neurotransmitter serotonin which mediates anxiety and activates certain neural pathways that promotes happiness”. Here, I toast to that.
