How to Protect a child from Porno Shock that a smartphone may give

Recently Florida State Legislature has voted to declare pornography as public HEALTH HAZARD. It can be especially mind-numbing when children of 10 or 12 year age are involved. Mobile phone has democratized internet access to all parts of society.

But this has hit children most dangerously. Now we can pretend like nothing has happened, putting out heads into the sand on ground. Or we can take it like a challenge and fight back to figure a solution. Sex education in school will not do any good. Teachers have their limitations. A country like India has double the problem because teachers can be just as ignorant skeptics. Responsibility falls on parents to save innocents from learning direct from porn websites.

Porn websites operate and display the finished product. These films are made for entertainment of adults. Yet children cannot be stopped from accessing these websites.

In such difficult situation, parents or educating elders should reason about how a porno is produced, and talk about production technology like a film production, with children.

We must understand that porno is a staged drama like the fake wrestling match, a ballet, a dane or an act. It is not real.

Actors are paid for their jobs. Learning to act without clothes, pretending to be experiencing pleasure, the force, the violence all are staged, and dozens of people are involved in pre and post production stages, not just female and male.

A clinical description of the drama will help a child get over an emotional shock of seeing a nude. It may be not the best but least harmful shock when child gets it from a trusted adult.

Direct exposure can leave a child permanently damaged.

This can be the only way how child may be able to understand that such drama does not have emotional intimacy. Emotional intimacy can be learnt only when the child grows. But meanwhile how do you protect the child from damage – compare it with a drama, a ballet, a theatre performance. Not the best but most sensible reasoning.

We must not forget that India is still a conservative country of 1.3 billion people and soon with over a billion mobile phones of which many will be smart mobiles.
