Oxford University degree in Britain is a course of 3 year undergraduate study -PPE – graduate in Philosophy, Politics and Economics starting in 1930s.
This degree is more popular than any other course at any university in England. John Campbell, an eminent British historian in 2014, calls this “course of choice” for aspiring politicians like Prime ministers Heath, Wilson and to numerous leaders. It was a golden ticket to future.
They claimed not just to improve Britain but also the world at large.
The course has been taken by the likes of Bill Clinton, Benazir Bhutto, Aung San Suu Kyi, and Australian prime minister Hawke and Fraser as well as media mogul Rupert Murdoch. Oxford has supplied great talents to all the three fields.
Britain’s education is not the best but this degree is close to prestigious American degrees for generalist quality education. English are notorious for specialization a bit too soon. But this degree has produced the best of Left, Right, Centrist, libertarian, socialistic, capitalistic, all sorts of leaders all over the world.
We do owe Oxford a solute despite its Colonial sins.
