Women’s Hormonal Treatment is Mostly Fakery and Quackery

Half the population of females that suffer from hormonal disfunction never talk about it. The remaining half that dare go through treatment suffer from mostly fakery and quackery of medical and non-medical opportunistic treatments.

This conclusion is drawn by Randi Hutter Epstein. The 55 year old is Professor at Yale Medical School, an adjunct professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and she recently wrote the book “Aroused: The History of Hormones and How They Control Just About Everything.”She says that in spite of centuries of research on human body, we’re still at a turning point of finding more surprises in regards to human hormones . The word “hormones” did not exist till the year 1905. They “control growth, metabolism, behavior, sleep, lactation, stress, mood swings, sleep-wake cycles, the immune system, mating, fighting, fleeing, puberty, parenting and sex”- that guide our behavior.

But discovery of hormonal impact was not known until recent scientific progress. Rosalyn Yalow received Nobel Prize for measuring hormones and treating imbalances possible. Measuring one billionth of a gram was not possible until recently. Very tiny quantity of chemicals produced in pituitary glands bring out absolute total body balance. This same measuring technology helped us discovering work on AIDS. But her book concentrates on the miracles of estrogen that controls human female life. Half of menopausal women suffer from painful vaginal dryness when estrogen, the female hormone reduces with age and only get worse.

Some treatment choices do exist. Lubricants are a simple solution. Estrogen pills have been invented as oral or a ring or a patch. Some laser treatments are in the experimental stage. But no treatment has been a guaranteed cure. Alternative treatments are heavily advertised but mostly misleading.

Dr. Epstein says that if one needs advice from a professional, only a go to someone who seriously understands hormones, like an endocrinologist but never to a health coach or anti-aging specialist. Very little is still known about hormones and gullibility costs are heavy emotionally and financially to a person.
